The thesis of this guide, up front: a large share of sinking, cracked driveways do not need to be replaced. Slab-lifting methods (mudjacking, polyurethane injection) fix settlement for a fraction of replacement cost — but they don't fix every problem, and nobody who sells them will tell you when not to buy. We will. Start at the decision framework.
What's actually wrong with your driveway?
Most driveway problems fall into three buckets — and the bucket determines the fix. Cracked slabs that sit flat usually need sealant or partial panel replacement. Slabs that have dropped need lifting from underneath. Surfaces that are flaking apart need resurfacing or replacement.
Why your driveway is sinking
Soil washout, poor compaction, tree roots, Florida's sandy soil — how to read the symptoms and when it's urgent.

Real Treasure Coast cost bands for crack repair, slab lifting, and replacement — with every source labeled.
See the numbers →The three repair methods, honestly compared
There are really only three ways to fix a settled slab before you get to full replacement. Each has a job it does well and jobs it shouldn't be sold for.
| Method | What it is | Typical TC cost band | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mudjacking (slabjacking) | Cement-based slurry pumped under the slab through drilled holes | Lower end of leveling ranges | Budget lifting on firm, stable soil where precision matters less |
| Polyurethane injection | Expanding foam injected under the slab; cures in ~15 minutes | Higher end of leveling ranges | Precision lifts, poor/wet soil, drive-over-today timelines |
| Resurfacing (overlay) | Polymer-modified topping over the existing slab | Mid-range per square foot | Cosmetic renewal of structurally sound slabs only |
